Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, suggests holding an All-Star Game for the Premier League.

New Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has pitched the idea of an American style all-star Premier League game between a north and south team.

In a New York conference, the Blues’ new co-owner, who also owns stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers, said he had already discussed the concept with Premier League rivals. The best players from each conference compete in exhibition all-star games in both Major League Baseball and the NBA.

The money received may be utilized to funnel further funding from the top of the football pyramid down.

The MLB All-Star game this year brought in 200 million dollars (171 million pounds) over the course of a Monday and a Tuesday, according to Boehly. “People are talking about additional money for the pyramid,” he added.

“It wasn’t about Zagreb, it was about the shared vision of what we wanted Chelsea to look like.”

“It wasn’t a decision that was made because of a single win or loss. It was a decision that we thought was the right vision for the club.”

Boehly also confirmed Chelsea’s plans to run a multi-club model, similar to the City Football Group, which owns Manchester City.

“We’re going to be continuously adding resources,” he said.

“We’ve talked about having a multi-club model. I would love to continue to build out the footprint.”

 

Chennai Open: Eugenie Bouchard defeats Karman Thandi at the Chennai Open, ending the Indian Challenge in singles.

 

Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard defeated India’s Karman Kaur Thandi in the round of 16 of the Chennai Open WTA 250 tennis competition, winning 6-2, 7-6, and securing a place in the singles quarterfinals on Wednesday.

With Thandi’s exit, the Indian challenge in the singles draw came to an end. The country’s No.1 Ankita Raina had gone down to Tatjana Maria in round one on Tuesday.
