On September 28, 2022, the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) officially launched its 2023 application window. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2023.

Donations from domestic and foreign sources as well as more than R30 billion in financing from the Department of Higher Education and Training sustain the system (in 2018).

You are eligible to apply for the NSFAS bursary using the online application form 2023 if you are a South African citizen wanting to attend school in 2023 or are already enrolled in a public university or TVET institution and meet the requirements listed below.

1. Open the www.nsfas.org.za page for the NSFAS website.

4. To complete the process, click Register.

5. To allow NSFAS to verify and validate the information you have supplied, choose the Accept option.

6. Enter your ID number precisely as it appears on your identification paper.

7. Ensure that your name and last name are entered precisely as they are on your ID.

8. Type in your mobile number and a reliable email address.

9. Establish a password for your account and double-check it (TIP:-Ensure you use a password you can remember or save your password where you can easily access it).
10. Be sure to provide a copy of your identity.

12. The email address and cellphone number you provided will get a one-time password (OTP) for verification.

13. Verify the one-time password by going to your mobile number and email address (OTP).

14. Type the OTP in the relevant area.

15. Click the Send button.

16. After submitting, you will get an email and an SMS confirming the creation of your myNSFAS account. You should be aware that you cannot apply to NSFAS or check your status if you do not have a myNSFAS account.

You may then start the online NSFAS application process for the current fiscal year 2023.

 

For 2023, will NSFAS need verified documents?

Without an ID number, NSFAS will not be able to process applications.

Every household member’s identity document, including parents or legal guardians, must be a certified copy. a certified copy of your most recent exam or transcript results. If you are presently enrolled in Grade 12, you are exempt from submitting this.
