Letsatsi continues by saying that Sassa’s systems are prepared to handle all of the applications it anticipates in the upcoming days.

Who Qualifies for the New R350 Grant?

• If applicants continue to meet the requirements, the grant will be paid on a monthly basis until March 2022.

 

Eligibility criteria for R350 Grant:

be a citizen of South Africa, a permanent resident, or a refugee listed in the Home Affairs database.

 

Asylum seekers with valid section 22 permits or visas as of March 15, 2020 are also eligible for the grant, as are holders of special permits issued under the Special Angolan Dispensation, the Lesotho Exemption Permit Dispensation, and the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit Dispensation.

 

Unemployed; not being eligible for any social assistance in regard to oneself; not receiving unemployment insurance benefits and not meeting the requirements to receive benefits; not receiving a stipend from other financial aid, including the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS); obtaining no other government assistance

 

Caregivers who are not receiving any grants on their own behalf are also eligible to apply for the R350 grant.

Applications may only be submitted on one application platform and only once. On August 25, 2021, the first round of grant payments was made.

 

To be taken into consideration for the grant, previous applicants must reapply. This occurs as SASSA attempts to use a new system to confirm the information provided by each applicant.

 

The previous SRD grant expired on April 30, 2021, which means that everyone who had previously applied must do so again in order for us to evaluate their eligibility as we did each month during the prior period. All applications will be treated as new applications each month. SASSA clarified.
