Standard 7 Examination Timetable for October 2022

Before NECTA was formally established by law in 1973 and Tanzania Mainland left the East African Examinations Council in 1971, all exams were administered by the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum and Examinations Section. With the creation of NECTA, the exams fell under the organization’s legal jurisdiction.

Up until 1975, when it was taken over by the newly founded, independent Institute of Curriculum Development (ICD), which in 1993 changed its name to the Tanzania Institute of Education, the Curriculum remained under the control of the Ministry of Education and the University College, Dar es Salaam (TIE).

 

The first employees of NECTA were hired between 1972 and 1976, and Mr. P. P. Gandye was one of them. He was hired in 1972 and later appointed executive secretary in 1994.

The other staff members were still being hired, particularly after NECTA’s headquarters were moved from the Ministry of Education Headquarters to the current location at Kijitonyama, close to Mwenge. More than 250 people work for NECTA at the moment.
